Delivery 1 to 3 weeks (subject to availability)
Oxygen absorber for anoxia designed to create and maintain a low-oxygen atmosphere in airtight packages and containers with high tightness, reducing the risk of oxidation, rancidity and degradation in particularly oxygen-sensitive materials.
The ATCO oxygen absorber operates via an iron/iron-oxide reaction that consumes residual oxygen inside the package. This anoxia hinders the development of aerobic microorganisms and enables an anoxia treatment also useful for non-toxic pest control in conservation and storage.
Unit format in vacuum-sealed plastic bag; available as ATCO BOX 250 size with dimensions 97 x 97 mm (Ø x H) and supplied in boxes of 27 units.

Anoxic and stable technical anoxia with ATCO Box 250 in airtight packaging
When the goal is to minimize residual oxygen in a closed system, the solution must be compatible with low-permeability packaging and controlled handling processes. ATCO Box 250 is used to generate an oxygen-free storage environment in airtight containers or sealed bags, with widespread use in both the food industry and the conservation of cultural goods.
In a properly sealed package, the absorber reduces O2 in the internal atmosphere to extremely low levels (anoxia), which helps slow oxidative reactions and limit the growth of aerobic microorganisms. In larger-volume applications, it is common to perform a preliminary nitrogen purge and maintain the oxygen level with the absorber during the storage period.
Applications of the oxygen absorber for airtight packages
- oxygen absorber for food: technical support to reduce oxidation and preserve quality in O2-sensitive products within high-barrier packaging.
- oxygen absorber for artworks and collections: useful in airtight packaging for preventive conservation and stabilization of the gaseous environment.
- oxygen absorber for furniture and organic materials: application in anoxia treatment as a non-toxic pest control method when working in closed systems.
- low-oxygen atmosphere for storage and transport: recommended when it is necessary to minimize O2 in chambers, bags or low-permeability containers.
Key features of the ATCO oxygen absorber
- Designed to operate in microatmospheres both humid and dry.
- Exothermic reaction: during absorption the surface temperature of the absorber can increase, a normal phenomenon of the chemical process.
- The absorber is part of the packaging system: it must be placed so that air can circulate within the package volume.
- Intended for airtight systems: performance depends on the tightness and oxygen permeability of the packaging material.
Safe use and compliance for food contact
- Non-toxic materials and "do not eat" labeling recommended.
- Suitable for food contact applications in accordance with the requirements specified for the EU (references CE/1935/2004 and CE/450/2009 according to the manufacturer's technical data sheet).
- Storage: keep in original packaging, in a well-ventilated area and away from direct sunlight.
If you need to adjust capacity to other working volumes, check the other sizes available in the ATCO absorbers category.
