Shielding antistatic bags are silver in color and are usually used outside EPA (Electrostatic Protection Area) zones, which are common in the automotive sector with a relative humidity of 50% and a temperature of 23ºC. These types of products contain an intermediate layer of aluminum that gives the silver color and creates a Faraday cage protecting the products from electrostatic charges. The objective of this type of ESD shielding bag is to protect products from the creation of electrostatic charges in an environment where they can easily be created when outside EPA zones.

It is a product commonly used for electronic components and in the automotive industry.

Shielding bags can be divided into two formats:

• Shielding: Simply called Shielding, they are semi-transparent as they have a small amount of aluminum in their intermediate layer. They have a usual thickness of 76 microns.
• MBB (Moisture Barrier Bag): These contain more aluminum than Shielding, providing a barrier against moisture as well as protecting against electrostatic charges. They are usually opaque and have thicknesses starting at 90 microns.
